  1. Will Banner be up all day?
    Yes. However, some functions like postings of approvals to Banner documents will not be functional during the following times: Monday-Thursday: 9:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Friday: After 6:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday: Not available all day.

  1. How do I access the Banner Finance Production System?
    • Go to http://titanss.accd.edu:8010 and select Production Database [PROD] .
    • You must complete all training courses before your user account gets activated.
    • User Name & Password will be the PALS userid. During the initial login users will be prompted to change their password. Password Security
    • Access is a privilege, use it responsibly.
    • Do not share your password with anyone including your supervisor.
    • Do not write your password down.

  1. My PALS username does not work as a Banner username? I am unable to login.
    Please check to see if your PALS username has a hyphen as a part of the username. Banner usernames do not allow the use of hyphens. Please try to use the PALS username without the hyphen. If you are still unable to login, it may be a security issue. Please contact Support Central at 210-485-0555.

  1. What can I do if I forget the Banner Username and Password?
    Contact the Helpdesk at 210-485-0555 and request that they reset your Banner password. Please have your PALS Username ready before you contact the helpdesk.

  1. How do I change my password?
    1. Access the GUAPSWD form after you log into Banner.
    2. Type your initial password in the Oracle Password field.
    3. Tab down to New Oracle Password and type the new password.
    4. Tab down and type the same password again for verification. Click Disketteto save.

  1. When is Banner Finance Training Available?
    Training normally takes place at the DIST Advanced IT Center (AITC) located at 811 W. Houston. Login to PALS and select the Training Management System within the Employee tab to view scheduled training sessions or click here to view dates. You may also obtain scheduled training dates from your college Budget Officer. Support Personnel/Initiators must attend GE-01, FIN-01, and FIN-03. Budget Managers/Approvers must attend GE-01 and FIN-02.

  1. How do I register for Banner Training?
    Once the Banner Training Request is fully approved (see “How can I check the status of my request” IT Help Guide for more details) you can register for Banner Finance Training as follows:
    1. Login to PALS (http://www.accd.edu/pals/)
    2. Click Employee Tab
    3. Scroll down to Train-Track and click the ‘View Courses’ link
    4. Find the ‘Support Personnel’ or ‘Budget Manager/Approver’ link (under Course column) and click the ‘Class Schedule’ link to its left. If you do not see a ‘Support Personnel’ or ‘Budget Manager/Approver’ link, please provide your PALS Username and your role (Support Personnel or Approver) to Yescenia Flores at yflores@mail.accd.edu so that the link can be made available.
    5. Scroll down to ‘Register for a Session’
    6. Click the ‘Add Course’ link to register for a session. To confirm that you have successfully registered, scroll up to the ‘My Registered Courses’ section.

  1. I completed Banner Finance Training, how can I practice Banner Finance?
    Go to http://titants4.accd.edu:7780 and select ACCD Training Database [TRNG].
    Support Personnel / Initiator Practice Accounts: Username: train18 Password: train18
    Username: train19 Password: train19
    Username: train20 Password: train20
    Budget Manager / Approver Practice Accounts: Username: train48 Password: train48
    Username: train49 Password: train49
    Username: train50 Password: train50
    Multiple users may be logged in to the same account provided that different forms are being accessed. If a message appears stating “Could not reserve record (2 tries). Keep trying? YES/NO” or something to that effect, click the “x” on the pop-up window. Continue clicking the “x” until the pop-up window disappears. Logout of Banner Test and try a different practice account.

    The District Controller will grant access to the Banner Finance System upon completion/approval of the following:

  6. My PALS Username changed, how can I get my Banner Username changed to the new PALS Username?
    1. Login to your College PALS application by going to http://www.accd.edu/pals.
    2. Once you are logged in, select the Employee Tab
    3. Find the Employee Resources channel (on the left side column) and select the Banner Access Request link. All who have completed Banner Training will have access to the Banner Access Request link.
    4. Click the Banner User Security/Access Requests button.
    5. Type your current Banner Username.
    6. On the Action Request field, click the drop-down arrow and select Changes for Existing Employee (this option is available only for Employees who have completed Banner Finance Training).
    7. Click the Submit button.
    8. Fill in the requested information (ensure that your Approver is selected from drop-down list).
    9. In the Remarks section type something to the effect of: My PALS Username changed from apals1 to apals-doe12. Requests: (1)Remove apals1 from banner access. (2)Add apals-doe12 to banner access.
    10. Under the Add/Delete Column, select Add. Fill in the Organization Name, ORG #, Fund Name, Fund # information for the new Username. Please provide the information, even if the ORGs and Funds will remain the same as the old username. Click the Submit Request button.
    Note: If you are an Approver, please contact your College Budget Officer so that the Approval Queue may be updated for the New Banner Username. This will allow you to continue Approving Banner documents under your new Banner Username.
    Note: All submitted requests can be tracked by clicking the Previous Requests Status button located on the bottom of the first page that appears once the Banner User Security/Access Requests button is clicked (see steps 1- 4 noted above).

  7. I complete chargebacks in my department. Will I receive training on how to perform chargebacks using Banner?
    Yes. A training course is available. Go to the Training section for more information.

  8. Can I access Banner from home?
    ACCD employees with Banner access can access the Banner system from home using VPN (Virtual Private Network.) You must authenticate to our network using secure access through our Firewall. There are a number of issues to remember while accessing Banner from home:
    • A home computer should meet the minimum requirements necessary to access the Banner application.
    • Before using the Banner application, the Oracle JInitiator Web browser plug-in must be installed & configured. See IT Help Guide: VPN Help for installation procedures.

  9. Can I access Banner from my Macintosh computer?
    When using Safari to access the banner page, the following error will appear: FRM-92050: Failed to connect to the Server: /forms90/190servlet:-1. Is there a fix for this?
    Unfortunately Banner will not work correctly with Safari; it is recommended that you use Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac.
    Where is Internet Explorer located or where can I obtain a copy?
    If the Internet Explorer icon is not located in your dock, open Finder and look in your Applications folder. Or you can download Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac (click on the link) from Microsoft’s Mactopia site. Where can I get the Java plugin for Mac?
    Go to http://developer.apple.com/java/download/ and select the download that matches your version of the Mac OS X. What are the system requirements for Java? Java 2 SE 5.0 Release 1 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later Java 1.4.2 Update 1 Requires Mac OS X 10.3.4 or later How can I check what version of Mac OS X I’m using?
    Click on the Apple Menu and click on ‘About This Mac’ How do I install the Java plugin?
    Select the appropriate Java version and follow these steps.
    a. Once the download is completed the Java .dmg file will automatically mount and will show you the contents on finder
    b. Open the .pkg file
    c. The installer will open and will prompt you to run a program to check for compatibility, click continue
    d. Click to start the installation
    e. Click continue on the important information window f. Click continue on the software license agreement then click agree
    g. Select the appropriate drive and click continue
    h. The installation will take about a minute to complete.
    When the installation is complete go to http://titanss.accd.edu:8010/ to begin using Banner.
