  1. What is FortiMail?
    FortiMail system is a secure messaging appliance offering antispam defense at network gateway, an antivirus detection engine for virus and spyware protection and email scanning. FortiMail replaces ACCD’s PureMessage Server and will protect computers at Alamo Community Colleges computers from SPAM attacks.

  1. What happens when the FortiMail system suspects a SPAM message?
    FortiMail scans email messages for viruses and filters SPAM. When a virus or a SPAM infected message is detected the FortiMail defines a SPAM rating and determines if the message should be quarantined.

  1. How can I access the quarantined emails?
    You can retrieve the quarantined SPAM from the FortiMail antispam appliance and verify if the message is truly infected. Each user will receive a daily SPAM summary report via email. The report will contain instructions to delete or release your quarantined emails. The Email is sent early each day.

  1. How can I block/allow email addresses?
    Users can contact Support Central at 220-1616 or helpdesk@mail.accd.edu to get an email address added to the Safe or Blocked list. The Safe list allows the addresses to come through FortiMail. The block list does not allow the addresses to come through the FortiMail.

  1. Why are my solicited emails sent to the junk folder?
    While every effort is made to deliver solicited commercial and noncommercial email directly to your inbox, if you believe that a message is wrongly delivered to your junk folder, select the message and then right click select not junk to send back to the inbox. The message will be sent back to the inbox.

  3. How do I release quarantined emails?
    Within the SPAM digest you can select release or delete.

  1. How long does the message stay in the quarantined before it is automatically deleted?
    Currently the messages will stay in FortiMail for 21 days, unless deleted or retrieved by the user.

    Yes, you can block a particular email address. To do so contact Support Central at 220-1616 or helpdesk@mail.accd.edu.

    Yes, each user is limited to 200Mb.
