  1. What is a LISTSERV© Discussion Group?
    LISTSERV© is a system which creates, manages and controls electronic "mailing lists." These "mailing lists" are names and E-mail addresses of users who wish to receive messages on particular topic. Clients can subscribe to a list and receive all messages sent to the list by other subscribed clients. All replies to the messages will be distributed to the list.

  1. What are the requirements to participate in a LISTSERV© discussion forum?
    Every client should have an ACCD E-mail account in order to participate. Teachers and staff can then request for a LISTSERV© discussion group to be created with minimal maintenance on the ACCD Host system.

  1. How do I establish a LISTSERV© List?
    1. Click here to go to E-Request on the Web
    2. Enter your E-Mail userid (ex. JSMITH) click NEXT.
    3. Enter information when prompted and click NEXT.
    4. Click "SYSTEM AUTHORIZATION AND ACCESS."
    5. Select "LISTSERV LIST CREATION."
    6. Enter information as prompted. When comlete, click SUBMIT. Listserv name and documentation will be sent to you via Pony.

  1. As a faculty member, how can I use the LISTSERV© application in a classroom?
    As a faculty member, you can request a discussion group to be created and encourage communication between students and yourself to discuss a course related topic on theLISTSERV©. A list normally deals with a single topic and can be moderated by the list owner, in this case, the faculty member. LISTSERV© will automatically archive all the messages sent on a daily and monthly basis.

    You can call Support Central at 220-1616. Support Central technicians will place a work order for the Systems Administrator to fix the problem.

  3. I am a student, how do I get an Email ID?
    Go to www.accd.edu/pals and click your school name under "Login to PALS." Under the password box, select "Click here to obtain your PALS User Name" and follow the prompts. Your password is the first 2 letters of your last name (in upper case letters) followed by the last 6 digits of your social security number. Your email address is the PALS username followed by @mail.accd.edu (i.e. PALS Username: jdoe, Email: jdoe@mail.accd.edu).

    To view a list of available ARCHIVE FILES, send an E-mail message to: listserv@accd.edu with the words INDEX LISTSERVNAME in the body of the note. Your will be sent an Email that has a list of log files. Then, send another E-mail to listserv@accd.edu with the words GET LISTSERVNAME LOGFILENAME in the body of the message. Example: GET ENGL1301 LOG9901 (You will be E-mailed the specific archive)

  1. Why do I get a message stating "Your message was deleted without being read."?
    You are getting this message from a List serve because a read message has been turned on for that particular message.
    Solution: In order to turn off this function, you will need to select the Options tab on your Outlook toolbar then the request a Read Receipt box.
